I began my career in academic research on the subject of biological invasions and their impact on the way ecosystems work. I then focused on silviculture – or the care and cultivation of woodlands – and the training of forest owners and managers in the sustainable management of forest as part of the Royal Forest Society of Belgium. I have been coordinating the Trees for Future project since 2018. This enables me to put my experience with research and my passion for forests and silviculture to good work on behalf of a significant issue: contributing to the resilience of forests and the way they adapt to climate change.

After more than 10 years at the SRFB providing foresters with the tools they need for the sustainable development of their woodland, I have witnessed the decline in the health of our forests and have also been able to meet foresters who are increasingly hard pressed in terms of the choice of species to plant that will be able to withstand the climate in 2100. The Trees for Future project offers positive new prospects for our forests and also has the merit of delving more deeply into the background of the problem.
Having confidence in the awareness of businesses to support an innovative and ambitious project such as Trees for Future is a challenge I am delighted to undertake.

I have always been aware of the richness and beauty of our forests and I worked for a number of years as a researcher at UCL, studying the impact that climate change is having on forest tree populations. And working with various universities and research centres, I have also contributed to the revision of the ecological database of forest species. Today, I am proud to make my knowledge work on behalf of the Trees for Future project – a project that works for the ongoing survival of these forests.
